9th International Barley Genetics Symposium (IBGS)The Czech Republic was charged by organization of the 9th IBGS in 2004. The Symposium will be held in Brno Trade Fairs, Brno, on 20-26 June 2004. IBGS is organized every 4 years alternately in different countries of all the continents, for the first time in Central or Eastern Europe. The Czech Republic is world famous by growing of top-quality malting barley used for the production of the first-class malt and consequently the world famous beer. Extensive scientific, research, breeding and experimental background with more than 100-year long tradition considerably contributes to this fact. About 300-400 scientists, researchers, breeders, maltsters and brewers from more than 60 countries worldwide regularly participate in the IBGS. A high scientific level will be under supervision of the International Organizing Committee.
